Bamboo Pavilion

We conducted an in-depth study of Anna Heringer’s Bamboo Pavilion for the International Bamboo Biennale through physical model building. Understanding the project through publicly available documentation was challenging, as much of its structure is discreetly hidden within pieces of bamboo and rammed earth. By closely analyzing drawings we obtained from the firm, we were able to reconstruct the building at a 1/8 scale. This process presented a unique challenge, requiring us to develop creative methods and alternatives for the connective details and materials to accurately represent the pavilion at a significantly smaller scale.
