LOCATION
Located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, our project embraces local architectural typologies, and continues the area’s urban motif of courtyards into the waterfront. The cultural center is defined by four primary, each differing in character, plant type, and activity. They are connected by a looped path that functions as a cultural botanical park throughout the year, showcasing native flora and staple ingredients for Creole food. This is much needed due to the lack of green spaces in the French Quarter. Our intervention leaves the existing street grid, allowing for the public and events such as Mardi Gras and Summer Festival to filter in easily, while also functioning as a center for cultural hybridity throughout the year.
